Mount Wise, Devonport

I was up early to take a photo for Devonport Baptist Church’s new banner this morning and was lucky enough to catch some beautiful sunshine!
Here’s a few of the lovely scenes I was greeted by in the unlikely location of Mount Wise, Plymouth – it felt like being on holiday and made me wonder why I’d never been there before.
Poster

A nice poster I bought at the University of Plymouth degree show last week.
Screen printed in gold ink onto dark grey paper, it was designed by a guy called Philipp Condrau whose work I really admired (see my article on the show here) as part of another Uni project. I really liked the intricate detail and the tactile quality and it looks great on my office wall!
Alphablog: L is for Logos
Recently both Creative Review magazine and the logo and identity blog Brand New compiled their list of the top 20 logo designs, with some fairly predictable results (and some less so!).
Both lists featured classic, highly regarded logos that have stood the test of time, alongside a couple more recent solutions. Featuring heavily were the likes of the British Rail double arrow symbol, the Deutsche Bank mark and of course, every designer’s soft spot, FedEx. Somewhat surprisingly Creative Review picked the Woolmark as their top logo ever – although as a long lasting and successful symbol one wouldn’t begrudge it’s choice.
