. . . you have to get out of the boat!

With Adobe software in hand, a sack-full of anticipation, a sprinkling of trepidation but encouragement from all sides, I am making the plunge and setting out as a full time self employed graphic designer.

The time has come for me to step out and test myself. Drawing all I can from the valuable experience I’ve gained through my 4 years of training, over 7 years of employment and over 3 years of part time self employment, and applying my passion and enthusiasm for design and it’s processes – as of Thursday 22nd July 2010 I will be going it alone.

Of course, I know I’m not alone in it – I am blessed and fortunate to have huge support from many friends and family members.

But I know that now, come the end of the month, if I haven’t worked hard enough the regular and consistent pay cheque I’ve been used to won’t magically appear. The motivation of earning my own money, working to my own guidelines and practices, and being my own boss though are all such exciting prospects and I genuinely can’t wait to get cracking!

In the coming weeks there will be some changes around here. Some huge, some more subtle. But keep checking back, because hopefully you’re going to hear an awful lot more from me!
